Theravada Buddhist monks celebrate Vassa or the Buddhist Lent during a three-month rainy season in Thailand in Fall each year. At the end of Vassa, Thod Kathin, a Kathina ceremony or festival can be held at a monastery any time during the month after the full moon of the 11th month according to the Lunar Calendar.

At this time, all ordained monks will be offered new robes or kathin. Hence, the name of the ceremony. The donation of robes and other gifts are an opportunity for the Buddhist community to express gratitude to the abbot and monks.

This weekend, this ceremony will be observed at Wat Buddharangsi at 15200 SW 240th Street, Homestead, FL 33032.

Wat Buddharangsi is a recipient of Queen Sirikit's Royal robes and accessories this year.

We cordially invite you to attend this ceremony and join us in our festivities during this weekend. Admission and parking is free.
