Job Description:/h3:
POSITION OBJECTIVE
Prepare bids to obtain new work and acts as the front line contact for subcontractors bidding projects with the Company. Must be capable of conceptual estimates, preliminary estimates and hard bid estimates. Performs all functions including project selection, subcontractors solicitation, document distribution, quantity take:off, estimate preparation, bid and bid form preparation and bid submission. This position reports to the Manager of Preconstruction Services.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
:Ability to produce work for the company from the identification of desirable bid opportunities to the submission of a responsive bid proposal including travel as required to perform this work.
:Knowledgeable in bid opportunity sources including plan reporting services, architects and owners.
:Complete understanding of all 17 CSI divisions.
:Complete understanding of all plans including civil, landscape, architectural, structural, plumbing, fire protection, HVAC, and electrical.
:Knowledge of and working relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, vendors and consultants.
:Complete knowledge of the front end of specifications including bid form, bid requirements, bonds, minority requirements, general conditions, building permits, safety site restrictions and staffing of projects.
:Ability to produce complete estimates for self:performed work in supervision, general conditions, concrete, carpentry and interior finishes.
:Ability to manage Design:Build process including management of designers and related consultants.
:Ability to produce contracts and negotiate terms with subcontractors, suppliers, vendors, consultants and Owner. Will participate in presentations to the Owner to secure work.
:Able to produce computerized CPM project schedules using P3, Suretrak or Microsoft Project.
:Ability to estimate from preliminary plans using Means Cost Data and Microsoft Excel.
:Knowledge of material prices, labor productivity and equipment cost.
:Ability to manage others and also be an effective team member.
:Knowledge of constructability of onsite project construction, procedure and co:ordination
:Knowledge or onsite safety procedures.
:Ability to supply cost reduction ideas to owner and project team.
Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience:
Educational and experience requirements include four:year engineering degree or equivalent combinations, technical training and/or experience. Seven to fifteen years estimating cost control and/or engineering experience on multi:million dollar projects. Advanced knowledge of estimating techniques and cost control, plus ability to interpret computerized cost data systems is essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word is required.
