This is professional accounting work involving the application of professional accounting techniques to a variety of fiscal transactions.
EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED: (Note: The examples of work as listed in this class specification are not necessarily descriptive of any one position in the class. :Maintains journals and account ledgers reflecting a sufficient variety of fiscal transactions to require the use of professional methods and techniques.
:Maintains controls and performs balancing operations on a number of accounting systems.
:Prepares fiscal statements and reports of a professional nature within specific account limits or assists in similar activities involving a wider variety of accounting areas.
:Prepares fiscal analyses in limited accounting areas or assists in similar activities in several accounting areas.
:Participates in the preparation of Year End Close Out and Certify Forward, pre:auditing functions, and various other activities related to accounting responsibilities.
:Custodian to the Southern Region Revolving Fund Bank Account, along with the processing of the FLex Funds and Repatriated American Program.
:Performs related work as required.

:Knowledge of accounting principles, practices and procedures.
:Knowledge of the methods of data collection.
:Ability to prepare financial statements and reports.
:Ability to design and implement accounting systems.
:Ability to prepare and maintain a variety of accounting records.
:Ability to analyze and interpret accounting data.
:Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures relating to an accounting program.
:Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
:Ability to communicate effectively.
:Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
:Ability to utilize problem:solving techniques.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
:A bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with a major in accounting.
:Professional or nonprofessional accounting experience can substitute on a year:for:year basis for the required bachelors degree; or any combination of this experience and up to 60 semester or 90 quarter hours of college education including two courses in accounting can substitute on a year:for:year basis for the required bachelors degree.
