Most musicians and bands who want to build successful music careers FAIL... here's why:

1. They do not take the time to learn about the desires of the music companies they want to do business with. Instead, they randomly send out their music in hopes that they will get lucky and receive a record deal. Truth is, all music companies have specific things they are looking for when it comes to working with new artists - until you understand these things and make yourself into the musician they are looking for, you will just be wasting your time by sending your music to them.

2. They limit their greatest potential by subscribing in untrue 'facts' about the way the music industry functions such as: ""To make it in music, you have to become a starving artist and risk it all."" These types of ideas hold them back from making the best decisions they need to make to become successful professional musicians.

3. They are not success-minded thinkers. Before you can achieve a significant level of success you must first know 'how to think' like a successful person. Without this skill, making it as a pro musician is simply NOT possible.

4. Instead of taking responsibility for their failures, they blame everything on others and make countless excuses for why they haven't achieved their music career goals.

5. They 'do things' to work on their music career, but have no real strategy that will bring them to their goals in the fastest, most efficient manner possible. This makes them frustrated, because they work hard but never seem to get anywhere in their careers.

6. They work alone to build their music career. Truth is, people who are highly successful in the music business have reached success because they worked together with other successful musicians. No one makes it on their own and those who try to never achieve great success.

7. They consistently fail using a trial and error approach while relying on the music career 'advice' of friends and family (who have never succeeded in the industry). NO ONE makes it in the music business by doing these things.

8. They spend most of their time trying to 'get their name out there' to as many music fans as they can. This kind of approach almost never works (particularly when you are just trying to break into the music business)

Now that you understand what will NOT work - Give me just five minutes and I'll tell you what approaches DO work. Click below: http://tomhess.net/MusicCareer.aspx
