Must Have Quality and Perioperative Experience

The Director of Quality is a professional member of the health care team who assumes responsibility and accountability of assigned areas located at either Jackson North Medical Center or Jackson South Community Hospital.

Facilitates implementation and monitors quality improvement and patient safety activities throughout the organization; acts as a role model/resource to all levels of staff in defining / educating / implementing and evaluating standards of care and practice using clinical expertise, clinical processes, and current concepts / principles of education/quality improvement/clinical practice and health care trends.

The Director of Quality will promote continuous readiness by assisting healthcare and medical staff on improvement performance on national, state, and locally reported measures, as well as compliance with quality national programs.


Manages confidential information within the department and related involved employees, patients, visitors, and/or physicians.
Assist facility in preparations for surveys (i.e., State, The Joint Commission, Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services, AHCA), conducts quality and patient safety surveys, and ensures continuous readiness for State and Federal surveys.
Collaborates with Risk Management in the facilitation of root cause analysis (RCA), failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) and monitoring of action plan implementation.
Maintains and regularly updates hospital performance improvement/quality management plan and strategies and collaborates with other disciplines to ensure that all the outcome measures are concurrently met.
Facilitates, supports, and organizes process improvement teams, provide support services to such teams and maintains and regularly updates hospital performance improvement/quality management plan and strategies.
Ensure that process improvement teams are effectively structured and managed to meet hospital and healthcare system objectives and ensures results of all quality and performance improvement activities are integrated facility wide.
Serves as a consultant to staff and leadership team as they prepare business plans to ensure standards-based quality of care is maintain or enhanced and actively participates in hospital staff or committee meetings as assigned.
Supervises employees and participates in budget planning.
Develops, reviews, or revises departmental and system policies and procedures and works on projects timely, effectively and meets due dates.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education :

Graduate of an accredited baccalaureate school of nursing or baccalaureate degree in healthcare field. Masters Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration or healthcare related field is a plus.


Five to seven years experience in clinical specialty/related area including minimum of four (4) years management experience, three (3) years of Medical Peer Review and Core Measures management experience. Project and budget management experience. Five years experience in clinical quality and performance improvement and managerial experience at the Director level are a plus.

Licensure, and/or Certification:

License as a professional Registered Nurse in the State of Florida or eligibility is required. Other types of healthcare practitioner license (i.e. foreign medical trainig) can be used in lieu of FL state license. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Professional certification in specialty area such as CPHQ, CNE, etc is a plus.

Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities:

Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power point.
