Job Description:/h3:
The Director of Rooms forms part of the Hotel Leadership team who collectively make key strategic and operational decisions for the Resort. The Director directs and controls the activities of the Front Desk, Reservations, Concierge, Housekeeping, Guest Relations, Guest Services and Engineering Department. Assures that standards are met, guests and employees are satisfied and problems are promptly resolved. The Director of Rooms is indirectly responsible for ensuring the safety and security of guests and employees and the protection of Penguin and President property and assets.
The Director also oversees
Revenue/Reservations to enhance the Hotel occupancy levels and rates.
We are looking for individual who have strong leadership and interpersonal skills, able to prioritize and adapt to the changing needs of the Resort operation, and can evidence having a solid work ethic, good business acumen and a passion for service.
Salary will be commensurate with the candidates experience.The position is presently available, however the start date is flexible.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
:
Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies/service
procedures/standards.
:
Identifies key areas, issues and concerns and acts on them immediately.
:
Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment. Use equipment only as intended.
:
Anticipate guests needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests, however busy and maintain positive guest relations at all times.
:
Resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction.
:Assures over booking situations are handled personally or through a delegated senior staff member.
:Thoroughly understands all Hotel Emergency Response Procedures and assists in the coordination of all emergency response activities
:Supervises front of house, back of house and exterior hotel areas, reporting any safety or security hazards, unacceptable behavior, or suspicious persons to General Manager or Owner for direction and resolution.
:
Ensures Engineering and Housekeeping departments maintain superior room product.
:
Coordinates and implements rate guidelines along with Sales and Marketing and Revenue Management teams.
:
Responsible for financial performance and managing costs within the Rooms Division. Prepares and monitors budgets and forecasts.
:
Ensures communication is optimized through daily line:ups and regular departmental and divisional meetings.
:
Ensures proper standard operating procedures are in place and skills training and knowledge tests are done to ensure high level of service.
:Monitors and ensures compliance to hotel key control policies by all employees
:Investigates breeches in security and guest and employee accidents
:Assists GM/ Owner in performance of periodic room safety inspections
:Works closely with GM/ Owner to identify areas of potential loss/liability
:
Monitors systematically the performance of the division and intervenes immediately if deviations occur.
:
Maintains an excellent reputation in the eyes of the public, the owners, the management, guests and team members.
:
Recommends staffing changes including hires,
promotions/transfers and terminations to meet operational requirements within staffing guidelines.
:
Review the daily business levels, anticipate critical situations and plan effective solutions to best
expedite these situations.
:
Formulates clear objectives for the Rooms Division and ensures timely implementation.
:
Inspect, plan and ensure that all materials and equipment are in complete readiness for service; rectify deficiencies with respective personnel.
:
Constantly monitor room divisions staff performance in all phases of service and job functions; rectify
:
Ensure accurate status of each room, readiness of rooms for check:in and to report guest concerns.
:
Balance room types daily.
:
Welcoming and escorting VIP guest
