POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Supervises staff in the South Regional Office that provide operational support services to the various detention centers in the assigned region. Represents the Regional Director in operational matters working with the Detention Superintendents in the assigned region, creates work assignments for the Region Office staff and Superintendents, and monitors the completion of the assignments. In addition, reviews compliance, in conjunction with staff in the region office, with established policies and procedures by the Superintendents in areas to include but not limited to:

Development of the centers, annual goals, and objectives.

Compliance with the centers operating budgets and spending plans.

Compliance with reporting requirements for the Central Communication Center and follow:up corrective actions where appropriate.

Participation in COMSTAT sessions and review for the corrective actions developed as a result of data reviewed in the sessions.

Compliance with the policies for use of the Juvenile Justice Information System (JJIS) and the Detention Facility Management System (DFMS).

Corrective action plan development and implementation as a result of security audits, quality assurance reviews, contract monitoring, etc.

Review and forward each centers quarterly report to the regional director for approval, provide appropriate feedback to the superintendents and advise the regional director of recommended corrective actions where necessary.

Review contract monitoring reports for the centers in the areas of Food Service, medical and Mental Health Services, and monitor the status to corrective actions that may be required, making recommendations to the regional director for contract sanctions or changes that may be appropriate.

Review and monitor actions related to personnel matters to include: Recruitment and hiring, discipline, and grievances.

Provides mentoring and technical assistance to the Superintendents in the region related to operational and programmatic issues in the centers, and be available for consultation with the Superintendents on a regular basis as issues occur which need to either be reported to the region or as requested by the Superintendents.

Performs site visits to the various detention centers in the region on a regular basis, reviewing the operational status of the centers during these visits, meeting with the superintendent and other staff, performing record review, as well as appropriate inspections.

Serve as Acting Regional Director in the absence of him/her.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

This is a managerial position as defined in Section 447.203, Florida Statutes.

This position must comply with the requirements set forth in Section 215.422, Florida Statutes, Prompt Payment Compliance Law.
