Position: Science TeacherLocation: CG Bethel High School; North Miami, FLJob Type: Full TimeSupervisor: Program Director Job Summary: The High School Science Teacher is responsible for the daily instructional delivery of curriculum, assessment, and classroom management that aligns with the school's vision, mission, and values while also meeting state and national academic standards. The role will be responsible to understand and demonstrate the importance of effective communication with students, school personnel, and parents. In addition, the Science Teacher will have extensive minutes per day of personal planning, common planning, data analysis, and professional development and coaching.Required Qualifications:Valid Florida Science Teacher CertificationHighly Qualified TeacherBachelor's DegreeMinimum of three to five years' of exemplary teaching experience in the classroomMust be able to work flexible hours to meet the needs of studentsProficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and OutlookExperience working with at-risk student population in some capacity preferredEssential Duties and Responsibilities:Plan and implement the School Science curriculum for assigned grade levels and subjectsGrade essays, research papers, and open-ended response items while providing feedback to studentsIdentify and select appropriate instructional materials aligned to content standardsImplement relevant information from research and professional literature on best practices in instructionDevelop appropriate and healthy relationships with scholars, including advocating for them and celebrating their successEmbed opportunities for scholar critical-thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity, as well as use of technology and digital media, into lesson and unit plansMentor and support scholars' development of academic, social, and emotional health, while coaching around goal setting for readiness upon graduationParticipate in professional development as opportunities become availableAnalyze formal and informal data and accurately complete student data assessment analysis and provide informative reports regarding student instruction and achievementDevelop short term and annual goals, based on identified student needs, that reflects national school counseling standards and state program components related to guidance curriculum, individual student planning, responsive services, and system supportOther duties as deemed necessary by Program Director Skills and Knowledge:Demonstrate knowledge of state standards, testing requirements, and graduation requirements within the core contentAbility to demonstrate and maintain positive relationships with colleagues and building principalWorking knowledge and comfort level with instructional technologyExperienced in collaborating with teacher teams and adapting work to the needs of teachers and studentsPossess a clear and effective pedagogy that embodies the belief that instruction must be engaging, relevant, rigorous, and provide real world opportunities for scholars to live their learningAbility to maintain strong classroom management and hold scholars accountable for upholding school rules, collaboratively-developed norms, and classroom expectationsKnowledge of current research and best practices in ScienceKnowledge and demonstration of using innovative skills in instruction (analytical thinking, problem solving, communicating, collaborating, and finding and evaluating information)Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to utilize technology for communication and instruction to work with parents, students, and other service agenciesDemonstrate organizational skills and initiative for working with minimal direct supervision while prioritizing workloadEvidence of ongoing professional learning and reflective practice to continuously improve student and adult learningA working knowledge of current research and resources in instruction Knowledge and experience using technology for communication, data analysis, gathering and organizing information for presentationsMaintain confidentiality An Equal Opportunity EmployerEdisonLearning is an Equal Opportunity Employer and Prohibits Discrimination and Harassment of any kind: EdisonLearning is committed to the principle of equal employment opportunity for all employees and to providing employees with a work environment free of discrimination and harassment.
