Position Science Teacher Location CG Bethel High School North Miami FL Job Type Full Time Supervisor Program Director Job Summary The High School Science Teacher is responsible for the daily instructional delivery of curriculum assessment and classroom management that aligns with the schoola s vision mission and values while also meeting state and national academic standards The role will be responsible to understand and demonstrate the importance of effective communication with students school personnel and parents In addition the Science Teacher will have extensive minutes per day of personal planning common planning data analysis and professional development and coaching Required Qualifications Valid Florida Science Teacher Certification Highly Qualified Teacher Bachelora s Degree Minimum of three to five yearsa of exemplary teaching experience in the classroom Must be able to work flexible hours to meet the needs of students Proficiency with Microsoft Excel PowerPoint Word and Outlook Experience working with at risk student population in some capacity preferred Essential Duties and Responsibilities Plan and implement the School Science curriculum for assigned grade levels and subjects Grade essays research papers and open ended response items while providing feedback to students Identify and select appropriate instructional materials aligned to content standards Implement relevant information from research and professional literature on best practices in instruction Develop appropriate and healthy relationships with scholars including advocating for them and celebrating their success Embed opportunities for scholar critical thinking communication collaboration and creativity as well as use of technology and digital media into lesson and unit plans Mentor and support scholarsa development of academic social and emotional health while coaching around goal setting for readiness upon graduation Participate in professional development as opportunities become available Analyze formal and informal data and accurately complete student data assessment analysis and provide informative reports regarding student instruction and achievement Develop short term and annual goals based on identified student needs that reflects national school counseling standards and state program components related to guidance curriculum individual student planning responsive services and system support Other duties as deemed necessary by Program Director Skills and Knowledge Demonstrate knowledge of state standards testing requirements and graduation requirements within the core content Ability to demonstrate and maintain positive relationships with colleagues and building principal Working knowledge and comfort level with instructional technology Experienced in collaborating with teacher teams and adapting work to the needs of teachers and students Possess a clear and effective pedagogy that embodies the belief that instruction must be engaging relevant rigorous and provide real world opportunities for scholars to live their learning Ability to maintain strong classroom management and hold scholars accountable for upholding school rules collaboratively developed norms and classroom expectations Knowledge of current research and best practices in Science Knowledge and demonstration of using innovative skills in instruction analytical thinking problem solving communicating collaborating and finding and evaluating information Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to utilize technology for communication and instruction to work with parents students and other service agencies Demonstrate organizational skills and initiative for working with minimal direct supervision while prioritizing workload Evidence of ongoing professional learning and reflective practice to continuously improve student and adult learning A working knowledge of current research and resources in instruction Knowledge and experience using technology for communication data analysis gathering and organizing information for presentations Maintain confidentiality An Equal Opportunity Employer
