The Biomolecular Sciences Institute (BSI), founded in 2014 to promote and facilitate multidisciplinary research in the biomolecular and biomedical sciences, currently has collaborations that include genomic stability and stress response, discovery and development of novel biosensors for detecting predictive biomarkers relevant for personal wellness and the discovery of new drugs, medicines and interventions for treatment or prevention of diseases, with a focus on the study of infectious diseases (including mosquito-borne illnesses), cancer and neurological disorders. The Center for Imaging Science (CIS) at FIU is a multidisciplinary research center designed to support an integrated community of investigators at the forefront of imaging science, with an emphasis on functional neuroimaging research in a research-dedicated magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) facility.
