Accountability: Be conscious of resources used in completing work and strive to use these resources as efficiently and effectively as possible.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintains the General Journal. Reviews, codes, and records the monthly recurring and regular adjusting and payroll journal entries into the General Ledger. Maintains the General Ledger control files, chart account, and financial statement format files. Prepares and records monthly program allocation journal entries. Performs month and year-end General Ledger closing procedures and prepares Financial Statements for review by accounting management. Prepares reconciliations of general ledger accounts and complies explanation of periodic variances for accounting management review. Maintains relationships with the General Ledger software vendor for support purpose and keeps the agency informed regarding updates and changes in the system. Responsible for reviewing for accuracy all transaction documents and supporting files and understanding the transactions. Maintain accuratelyroll forward schedules for balance sheet accounts, such as fixed assets, prepaid, and accrued expenses Prepares miscellaneous reports and reconciliation as needed by management or agency personnel. Assists accounting management with year-end audit procedures, schedules and reconciliation. Acts as back-up liaison with bank regarding daily banking transactions, delivers deposits, and transacts daily banking business when necessary.EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:1. Successful completion of a four year accounting degree from an accredited college.2. Two to Five years responsible accounting or bookkeeping experience related to accounts payable, payroll, general ledger, and reconciliation.KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: Principles, procedures, and practices of general accounting; modern office practices, procedures, systems, and equipment relating to financial operations, including computerized accounting procedures and systems, Microsoft Word, Excel and internal and external communications software. Planning, organizing, and completing assigned work in a timely manner; preparing financial reports, statements, documents, and entries in accordance with established procedures and requirements; working effectively and accurately under narrow time limitation; using time, equipment, and materials in the most efficient manner possible; working effectively with others; communicating clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing; and using a keyboard and calculator by touch.
